OC Show and E-40 Tour

Let’s get the upcoming show info out of the way and then get to the E-40 tour; which I’m crazy excited about. I don’t mean to suggest that the upcoming show, titled: High Off Music, isn’t a big deal. It’s always awesome to see Tha Native perform live on stage. I’ve never seen anyone give the same 100% energy level whether they are performing in a smaller, intimate type bar setting as they do on stage in front of hundreds or thousands of fans. Or at least I doubt many performers can or desire to accomplish this. So, when you have the chance to see him in a nearby club or bar, you should definitely go check him out.

Now, if you’re near the OC Tavern in San Clemente, CA on April 21st around 9:00PM, you should try to make it there. Just plan to be there, okay. In fact, check out OC Tavern’s photo gallery at http://www.octavern.com/gallery so you can see what a cool place it is. And it’s right off the 5 freeway near the beach. What more can you ask for? Ok, you want the address? Here it is: 2369 S. El Camino Real, San Clemente, CA 92672. Tha Native hopes to see you there to support him on one of his last local shows before touring the West Coast and beyond.

Now, for the moment we have all been waiting for; and really exciting news for me to deliver, although I’m not the first to put it out there; Tha Native will be going on tour at the end of this month with E-40. I personally have spoken about this lesser known artist for years now because while he has made some of the sickest songs in the hip hop game, and has coined some of the most original and creative slang ever used; and has one of the most unique and distinctive voices and flow to ever bless the rap game; despite all of this, E-40, in my opinion, has not been given the credit that he deserves.

Yes, he is a very popular hip hop star and has collaborated with the biggest names in the game, but despite this, I never hear him mentioned in any “all-time” top hip hop stars or rappers of all time lists. I will see names of artists, though, who have way fewer albums, hits, and way shorter careers. People with less influence in the game and all that. I mean, one of my all-time favorite albums is: In a Major Way by E-40. It came out in 1995. I use to bump that shit all the time when it first came out. I had a huge box with two JBL 12 inch subs in the trunk of my Infinity and I use to play the shit out of that CD; especially Sprinkle Me, 1-Luv and Dusted N Disgusted. Man! E-40s flow on Dusted N Disgusted and the way he passed it to 2Pac and the contrast in their voices; Amazing! I literally just went and downloaded all those tracks just now; I miss them so much thinking about it. My CD collection is long gone and everything I have is digital now and I don’t know if I have it digitally somewhere hidden away on an old hard drive, but screw it. I’m not going to go look for it. I had to get it now. Man, I love how that beat drops in Dusted N Disgusted! Would it not be awesome if the first single to come out by Tha Native had E-40 on it? That would be the shit.

Well anyways, I could go on and on about E-40 and all the slang terms he’s coined, like “fo’ shizzle” and “you feel me?” and “captain save a hoe” and I would probably go into his book of slang and also how he has collaborated with all the best hip hop artists in the game from 2Pac to Schoolboy Q; another of my favorite hip hop artists, but then this blog, which is usually meant to be pretty brief, would turn into a long article on E-40. I mean, E-40 doesn’t just fuck with anybody nor does he need to. He’s probably got checks showing up in his mailbox every single day from the dozens of albums he’s put out and has been featured on. So, let’s go ahead and list the dates right here for the upcoming tour with E-40.
